I love drawing portraits, finding the unseen person within.  I love using my hands - the feel of metal, clay wood or wool and finding out what they say to me!
Finding objects! Like ties? Those useless bits of material that men wear! What do they say? To me? -A PEACOCK! And you?

Organic nature
2011
This work is a 'work in progress' it is investigating nature with combine abstract techniques, capturing its imprint. It is focusing on bringing nature to the art, trapped behind a grid. By placing parts of nature to the art work it gives it an organic appearance and sense.

The flight from the tragic phenomenology of trash, albeit detritus, dross, garbage, offal, shit, waste – to its rehabilitation from the unscrupulous surface of nothingness; Mongo.

There is beauty within the ruin- the destitute can be removed from this affliction of uselessness. An objects past will always participate in its present.

I am inspired by the night, poetry and classical fairy tales. I usually express through painting or photography, trying to capture the adventurous human nature within themes that are surreal or dark in style. The spiritual reflected in the physical.

This piece is about survival beyond physical boundaries as we can be decieved by the illusion of safety.'

“one man’s trash is another man’s treasure”

I live in Winchmore Hill and I have been fascinated with finding and collecting discarded objects in my local area ranging from plastics, metals, woods, cardboard and fabrics to recycle in my work.

My work consists of photographing my immediate surroundings and capturing poetic moments in surroundings I inhabit. I deliberately choose ethereal hours, uninhabited by human presences present transcendent and somewhat darkened landscapes of the everyday.

'Work in Progress'  2010
Acrylic and Latex on Polyester/Cotton Trousers

My practice is based on the human body- whereby i look closely at the human anatomy, in particular with our skin and what is underneath it. Along with incorporating the elements of masquerade and costume as a way of hiding ourselves, I have aimed to use it as a form of showing the 'real' self.

Man's relationship with his environment" and operates as a complex, three-way conversation between "material, object and image (providing) seemingly endless possibilities of form and meaning." The sculpture seems to be in the process of metamorphosis, as if changing from one form into another, thus confronting the broader idea of evolution itself.

Digital Print  85 x 65cm

I am interested in nature, and the significance of memory. I explore these themes through drawing, print, film and multi-sensorial interactive installations. I like to work with recyclable materials highlighting the contrast between the organic and the man-made, and am currently working on a series of prints from family photographs.

Using a mixed palette, my work shows the physical gesture in the way I scrape the paint in different directions, to create a textured piece which the audience can interpret in their own way. I am interested in the process of painting and how different colours mix together to create a torn effect.

Through the process of photo reproduction and weaving, this work explores how genetic features are passed down from generation to generation. Are certain characteristics stronger than others? Will some eventually fade away, never to reappear? A union of seven closely related faces demonstrates the possible results of this continuous enquiry.

The common theme running throughout my work is the idea of the natural versus the man made, explored through the use of pattern and repetition. These techniques are used to highlight similarities between humans and the rest of the natural world, in this case the repetition of a common structure.

Reference to the relational dynamics within fairy tale narratives has long been used within art to reflect upon a variety of socio-cultural concerns. My current practice draws upon the Grimm Brothers’ fairy tale narratives. Here, scale is manipulated to comment on the narrative construction, deconstruction and reconstruction of self.

I like to provide a sense of familiarity to the viewer, granting them an accessibility to the work – Consistently my practice refers to the cliché, acknowledging and exploring archetypal components in both the innocent and the sinister; recognising unsettling qualities in the former and humour in the latter.

My work explores the hidden self, ideas of self-censorship and extremes one goes to when protecting their identity and self. I create new realities out of visual destruction and subsequent reconstruction into something altered and captivating. Viewers can only speculate what lies hidden under my deletion and censorship of images.

PHOTO TRANSFER, ACRYLIC.
20x20CM

Time and memory are the main focus of my work. Life consists of many little chapters. Looking back through old photographs, the words ' a lifetime ago' often arise. The only thing that connects us to these past lives, is memory. There is something in that connection, broken or faded, that fascinates me.

SKIN/CITY  (2010) ‘work in progress’

cotton, glue, and wood
2m X 2m X 2m

Skin is what wraps us around, it is our fabric. Fabric is also what protects us, what gives us border from outside world. City is our outside world, but at the same time city is a fabric for society. Fabric of reality – fabric of body, both exist within each other, both in some way are expression of who we are.

Black and White Video Performance, about 30 mins.

Throughout the realisation of my work, my aim is to explore and investigate thoughts and emotions, related to experiences and memories. The result is a sort of ‘story telling’ in which the work is accompanied by a variety of tangible objects, in order to make visible that thin line which divides ‘yesterday from today’.

Projection onto cartridge paper and oil.

My practice examines the dynamic between humanity and the natural world. Taxonomic classification, the encyclopedic model and the documentary create a specific language that renders the natural world intelligible. By focusing particularly on the documentary I aim to highlight how human mechanisms (cinematography, composition, technical innovation) present constructions of nature.

Inperfection is perfection and human nature is lifes infection. Realism through exaggeration there is always more truth in fiction cartoon laws on cosmetic faces all that matters is our presentation. Untitled, "work in progress"
oil, sequenced, 120 x 120 sq.cm

I believe that we all are brought up with a certain belief system that starts from our origin and family,  that derives a certain political behavior to different societies and everyday people that we come across.  Any subjects from scrutiny to structural mannerisms that are placed in our behavior since we were children to when we are independent in society. It is the way we bring this to affect with other people and surroundings that  I try to depict in my work.
